Our client is seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager to join their Risk & Compliance team. This role involves assisting in embedding a firm-wide risk and compliance culture, raising awareness of regulatory compliance, and working closely with service lines to develop and maintain a robust Risk & Compliance framework. Job Duties:
- Assist the Risk & Compliance (R&C) team and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in embedding a risk and compliance-focused culture across the firm.
- Develop and maintain risk, compliance, and regulatory awareness throughout the organisation.
- Establish and maintain the firm’s strategic risk registers.
- Provide practical, effective, and business-focused risk, compliance, and technical advice to Directors and service lines.
- Analyse laws and regulations, identify key changes, assess their impact, and provide guidance on appropriate actions.
- Maintain, review, and update all R&C policies and procedures at least annually.
- Develop and deliver technical compliance training.
- Prepare monthly ERM meeting packs as required.
- Identify additions and improvements to the Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP), conduct relevant monitoring tasks, and produce comprehensive reports.
- Maintain regulatory registers on behalf of ERM, including complaints, gifts, avoidable/unavoidable losses, PI, and breaches.
- Approve new clients on behalf of ERM as needed.
- Lead projects to standardise policies, procedures, and form-sets.
- Manage ad-hoc project work as required.
- Review and action sanctions and other relevant notices appropriately.
- Monitor the Compliance mailbox to ensure timely and efficient handling of email traffic.
- Act as Line Manager for the pan-island new business take-on team and R&C administrators.
Job Requirements:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience with a good understanding of both Jersey and Guernsey regulatory requirements.
- Holds a relevant professional qualification.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to engage with people at all levels and build supportive relationships across service lines.
- Ability to make commercial decisions and handle resistance with resilience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to resolve queries and issues confidently.
- Good time management and organisational skills with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high professional standards.
- Confident and proactive with the ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.
