Client Accountant

Our client is seeking a Client Accountant to prepare statutory accounts, support tax administrators with returns, and provide ad-hoc financial reporting. The successful candidate will ensure tasks are completed efficiently, effectively, and within internal and regulatory deadlines. This role requires a proactive approach to client record-keeping, adherence to procedures, and engagement in client-facing responsibilities. 

 

Job Duties:

  • Prepare statutory and non-statutory financial reporting in line with internal, client, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation of Guernsey and UK tax returns and VAT returns.
  • Provide support and guidance on client record-keeping and financial reporting.
  • Adhere to internal practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage time effectively, focusing on chargeable work and accurate time recording.
  • Assist colleagues with accounting matters and queries.
  • Understand client acceptance procedures and associated risks.
  • Prepare for and attend client meetings, ensuring follow-up on action points.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Work towards agreed training and performance goals, taking responsibility for self-development.
  • Escalate issues or exceptions to directors to mitigate risks.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of three to four years of relevant experience in an accounting environment.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CAT, or AAT).
  • Proven academic record and sound knowledge of financial transactions and statements.
  • Experience using ACUMEN is advantageous (training provided if required).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to resolve queries and provide solutions effectively.
  • Team player with flexibility to adapt to business needs.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and assist in the development of others.
