Our client is seeking a Client Accountant to prepare statutory accounts, support tax administrators with returns, and provide ad-hoc financial reporting. The successful candidate will ensure tasks are completed efficiently, effectively, and within internal and regulatory deadlines. This role requires a proactive approach to client record-keeping, adherence to procedures, and engagement in client-facing responsibilities.
Job Duties:
- Prepare statutory and non-statutory financial reporting in line with internal, client, and regulatory deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation of Guernsey and UK tax returns and VAT returns.
- Provide support and guidance on client record-keeping and financial reporting.
- Adhere to internal practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage time effectively, focusing on chargeable work and accurate time recording.
- Assist colleagues with accounting matters and queries.
- Understand client acceptance procedures and associated risks.
- Prepare for and attend client meetings, ensuring follow-up on action points.
- Maintain professional communication with clients and colleagues.
- Work towards agreed training and performance goals, taking responsibility for self-development.
- Escalate issues or exceptions to directors to mitigate risks.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of three to four years of relevant experience in an accounting environment.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CAT, or AAT).
- Proven academic record and sound knowledge of financial transactions and statements.
- Experience using ACUMEN is advantageous (training provided if required).
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook at an intermediate level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to resolve queries and provide solutions effectively.
- Team player with flexibility to adapt to business needs.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and assist in the development of others.
