Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join their Group Finance team in Jersey. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager based in the UK, this role is responsible for delivering comprehensive accounting services for various corporate entities. Key duties include month-end processes, financial reporting under IFRS, tax filings, and supporting internal stakeholders with budgeting and investment decisions. The role requires close collaboration with local and international colleagues, as well as external third parties.

 

Job Duties:

  • Perform month-end closes, including journals and reconciliations to treasury management systems.
  • Prepare monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reports.
  • Complete bank reconciliations weekly and monthly to ensure accurate cash records.
  • Prepare monthly accruals, provision journals, and supporting balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and accounting regulations, including IFRS.
  • Collaborate with the Dealing and Treasury trading team and treasury management suppliers.
  • Work with the accounts payable team to ensure accurate monthly accruals and prepayments.
  • Complete regulatory returns and prepare weekly/monthly cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare year-end statutory financial statements and liaise with auditors.
  • Respond to ad hoc financial queries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Prepare board report packs, including financial analysis and commentary.
  • Support the implementation of a new wealth management platform and its interface with the accounting system.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA).
  • Experience with IFRS.
  • Previous financial services experience.
  • Knowledge of jurisdictional tax requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience in client cash pooling and regulatory filings.
  • Proficiency in technical accounting skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, with knowledge of Microsoft Business Central being advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills, with additional knowledge of macros, Power Pivot, and Power BI being a plus.
  • Attention to detail with a logical, organised approach.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships and influence change.
  • Team-oriented approach to work.
