Assistant Manager

Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager to be responsible for the management of a portfolio of clients along with all aspects of service delivery in consultation with the Directors and senior management of Audit and Assurance. When required, the individual will act as the Senior Auditor in certain engagements, undertaking audits of financial statements or other assurance work. This role is a full-time position.

Job Duties:

  • Manage a team of Audit Seniors and Auditors, ensuring effective communication with the Directors of Audit and Assurance and/or the Audit Manager.
  • Coach, develop, and train all staff members within the team, contributing to performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Provide technical support to the audit team, ensuring excellent technical standards are enforced in all work.
  • Assist in staff resourcing, including candidate interviews and staff planning when required.
  • Lead "lunch and learn" initiatives to provide training on specific audit areas.
  • Participate in staff social events.
  • Act as Senior Auditor reporting to the Managing Director of Audit and Assurance and/or Audit Manager.
  • Manage all aspects of the client portfolio, including service delivery, timesheet approval, work-in-progress, billing, and debtors, whilst monitoring key performance indicators and reporting on deviations.
  • Undertake occasional ad hoc assignments for clients and the Managing Director of Audit and Assurance.
  • Attend monthly meetings and contribute to the successful operation of the company and specifically the audit department.
  • Assist in client proposals and presentations when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (through a recognised Professional body) or hold a qualification relevant to the function.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Completion of Management Training.
  • Proven people management skills and experience.
