Senior Part Qualified Actuarial Trainee

Our client has a permanent position available within the Actuarial department for a Senior Part-Qualified (or Nearly Qualified) Actuarial Trainee. This role is ideal for an individual with at least three years' experience working in a life insurance company as part of an actuarial training scheme, with demonstrated progress in the IFoA (or equivalent) examinations. The role offers the opportunity to work independently within a small team, while gaining exposure to various actuarial functions such as pricing, product development, and liability modelling.

Job Duties:

  • Take an active role in external reporting, including the production of valuations to appropriate standards and within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to delivering internal financial reporting, including experience investigations in line with agreed methodologies.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of actuarial liability models, ensuring data extract routines are checked and documentation is up to date.
  • Help maintain and develop illustration systems for bespoke quotations and ensure adherence to actuarial calculation specifications.
  • Provide actuarial support to product development and pricing exercises, including updating illustration systems and Prophet models, performing profit-testing, and updating product documentation.
  • Offer actuarial support to various project work as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • At least three years’ experience working for a life insurance company, preferably based in the Isle of Man, though candidates from other jurisdictions will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven track record of attention to technical detail.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting, with experience in the Isle of Man Risk-Based Capital regime beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, with the capability to work independently when required.
  • Proven experience of delivering both internal and external financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions, adhering to prescribed timelines.
  • Student membership of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent body), progressing well through the examination syllabus and having completed at least the Core Principles subjects.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the company.
  • A proven self-starter with initiative, while knowing when to seek support.
