Audit Senior

Our client is seeking an Audit Senior to join their Audit & Assurance department. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Audit Senior will be responsible for monitoring and managing the workflow of audit assistants, ensuring that they meet deadlines and budgetary constraints. The role requires an initial review of the assistants' work prior to supervisor review.

Job Duties:

  • Understand the audit approach and assist in the planning of an ISA-compliant audit.
  • Explain areas of the audit approach to assistants clearly.
  • Communicate and summarise identified risks to management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure audit work completed by the team is documented and concluded appropriately.
  • Critically evaluate business systems and processes, providing constructive feedback to senior team members.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and application of accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
  • Apply knowledge of auditing standards (ISA’s).
  • Identify technical issues and resolve them before escalating to senior staff.
  • Determine client needs and effectively communicate them to the client service team.
  • Complete client tasks efficiently, with practicality and integrity.
  • Develop strong working relationships with relevant client personnel.
  • Maintain regular communication with the team and management.
  • Seek potential opportunities to assist clients and contribute to the sales and marketing process.
  • Actively participate in the development of team members through constructive feedback and participation in performance management processes.
  • Make informed decisions, consulting others when necessary.
  • Keep the team well informed of decisions and performance expectations.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain morale to achieve collective goals.
  • Efficiently manage time, ensuring assistants also use time effectively.
  • Be accountable for achieving results within the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and its implications on departmental procedures.
  • Stay updated on audit and accounting developments.
  • Develop an understanding of clients' operations and the associated audit implications.
  • Adhere to the firm's policies and procedures in daily practice.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities through awareness of other service lines.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-changing environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Part-qualified accountant, actively pursuing qualification.
  • At least 2 years' experience in an audit environment.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
