Lawyer

Our client is seeking a Lawyer to join their busy legal practice that specialises in various areas, including Isle of Man immigration and British nationality work, private client matters like probate and estate planning, corporate and commercial work, and public law litigation for private clients. This full-time role offers an opportunity for a dedicated legal professional with 0 to 5 years' PQE or someone returning to practice after a career break. The successful applicant must be an Isle of Man advocate, a British or Irish solicitor, a Registered Legal Practitioner, or a Commonwealth, European, or US lawyer entitled to register as a Registered Legal Practitioner in the Isle of Man. Key responsibilities include managing a caseload effectively while meeting client expectations, supporting other lawyers in delivering excellent client service, and advising clients on legal matters both in person and online. Additionally, the role involves drafting immigration applications, contracts, wills, and other legal documents, along with instructing advocates and external counsel in court matters, with the possibility of representing clients in court where qualified. Legal research and preparation of necessary papers for administrative applications and court proceedings are also part of the job. Previous experience in these specific practice areas would be advantageous, although training will be provided for those keen to specialise.

Job Duties:

• Manage a caseload effectively and address client expectations
• Support other lawyers in delivering excellent service to clients
• Advise clients on legal matters in person and online
• Draw up immigration applications, contracts, wills, and other legal documents
• Instruct advocates and external counsel in court matters, representing clients in court where qualified
• Undertake legal research, scrutinise statements, reports, and legal documents, and prepare papers relevant to administrative applications and court proceedings

Job Requirements:

• 0 to 5 years’ PQE or returning to practice after a career break
• Must be an Isle of Man advocate, British or Irish solicitor, Registered Legal Practitioner, or a Common-wealth, European, or US lawyer entitled to register in the Isle of Man
• Experience in a private client legal practice environment
• Strong online and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent English communication skills
• An international outlook and foreign language skills would be beneficial
