Our client is looking for an Associate to join their Dispute Resolution team. This role will involve advising clients on all aspects of litigation and insolvency matters, including the preparation and conduct of court proceedings and tribunals. The Associate will also be responsible for enforcing rights and obligations, interpreting legal documents, and supporting clients through disputes. This position requires a proactive approach to case management and client interaction.
Job Duties:
- Advise clients on all aspects of litigation and insolvency matters in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Represent the Dispute Resolution team in dealings with law firms, government representatives, agencies, and other professionals involved in client matters.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each assigned client's business and communicate this knowledge to the team.
- Take instructions from other attorneys or clients, drafting documents and recommending actions for specific matters.
- Manage caseload effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, both locally and internationally, and how they impact clients.
- Draft skeleton arguments and submissions for court proceedings.
- Contribute to the Knowledge Management system by assisting in updating data related to litigation and insolvency.
- Review and provide feedback on documents prepared by other lawyers.
- Lead or assist in drafting precedent documentation for the practice group.
- Mentor less experienced lawyers where necessary.
- Participate in the practice group's marketing and training programs.
- Manage client billing, follow up on outstanding payments, and adhere to internal billing procedures.
- Capture business development activities and contact details within internal systems (InterAction).
- Open, manage, and close files in accordance with internal policies, ensuring proper archiving.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- 2 - 5 PQE (Post-Qualification Experience).
- Qualified lawyer with strong academic qualifications.
- Knowledge of litigation procedures and relevant substantive laws, particularly within the area of specialisation.
- Strong advocacy skills appropriate to the level of qualification.
- Excellent academic record.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills with a thorough command of English, including attention to detail in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Proven ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously.
- Competent IT skills, with familiarity with major office software.
- Ability to handle client relationships with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
