Our client is seeking a Senior Conveyancer to join their team in Guernsey. The role involves handling fee-earning work in conveyancing, providing clients with expert legal advice, and ensuring the highest standards of professional service. You will be responsible for overseeing transactions, managing complex matters, and providing guidance to junior staff. Job Duties:
- Provide quotes to prospective and existing clients.
- Attend regular conveyancing meetings and collaborate with the Conveyancing Coordinator on workload management.
- Train new staff members and ensure high standards of performance.
- Record time on complex matters and assist with marketing by meeting potential clients when needed.
- Prepare new matter forms and liaise with Compliance on client CDD documentation.
- Prepare Immunity Applications and Open Market Housing Inspection Applications.
- Conduct title research, using tools such as digi-map, cadastre system, and Strongroom.
- Attend site visits and handle boundary discrepancies, liaising with other law firms, agents, and relevant parties.
- Prepare title reports and explain the content to clients.
- Liaise with lending banks' Advocates, provide title, indemnity certificates, and draft conveyances.
- Handle redemption requests and draft Court documents including conveyances, agreements, and exchanges.
- Proofread legal documents and assist colleagues with Court documents.
- Prepare Powers of Attorney, Letters of Authority, and Company Resolutions.
- Prepare accounts and agree on apportionments of rates, taxes, and rents with counterparties.
- Attend Conveyancing Court to complete transactions with clients or by Power of Attorney.
- Prepare Cadastre letters and send them to relevant States’ departments post-completion.
- Attend registration and collect registered documents from the Greffe as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven client relationship management abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
