Our client is seeking a highly experienced Fleet Operations Manager to report to the Head of Operations. The role involves executing duties with a focus on marine aspects, ensuring Company vessels, linkspans, and port installations are maintained to meet safety, reliability, and effectiveness standards at all times. The role requires close collaboration with the Technical Manager and Ship Manager and includes responsibility for managing incidents, advising on tasks relating to ISPS, and providing operational advice to the Board. This is a full-time role based at the client’s offices with some travel required to vessels and port installations.
Job Duties:
- Work closely with the Head of Operations, Technical Manager, and Ship Manager to maintain Company vessels, linkspans, and port installations.
- Manage incidents and emergencies, instigating investigations and incorporating findings into the management system.
- Advise the Marine Manager on ISPS tasks and ensure compliance with Company Safety and Environmental Policy.
- Assist the Head of Operations in advising the Board on fleet replacement strategy and operational management.
- Establish effective working relationships with ship and shore staff to improve communication within the Company.
- Liaise with Harbour Authorities and vessel masters regarding navigation and safety.
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction to guide ship operations.
- Identify training needs for personnel under control within the Safety Management System.
- Responsible for Steam Packet Workshops and ensuring that statutory and class surveys are conducted on time and effectively.
- Oversee financial management of budgets within control, ensuring vessels are supplied with correct navigational publications and adequate manning levels meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with rules and regulations for current and future vessels.
Job Requirements:
- Certificate of Competency (Master/ Chief Engineer) STCW10 or equivalent experience.
- An industry recognised qualification at degree level or equivalent and/or significant experience in vessel management and superintendence.
- Proven experience in managing large cost areas and ensuring compliance with regulations regarding the carriage of dangerous goods.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide ship operations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with Harbour Authorities, vessel masters, and shore staff.
- Experience in financial management and budget control.
