Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join their Dispute Resolution team. This role involves managing all aspects of the preparation and conduct of legal proceedings, including insolvency matters, and providing advice on disputes, enforcement of rights, and interpretation of legal documents. As a senior member of the team, you will supervise junior associates, trainees, and paralegals while managing a caseload and maintaining strong client relationships.
Job Duties:
- Advise clients on all aspects of client matters related to the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group, in line with internal policies and procedures.
- Represent the Group in dealings with courts, tribunals, law firms, government bodies, and other professionals.
- Develop a thorough understanding of each assigned client's business and communicate that knowledge within the team.
- Take instructions from clients and advocates, suggesting, recommending, and drafting necessary legal instruments.
- Manage caseloads effectively and efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date with local and international laws affecting Guernsey and clients.
- Draft skeleton arguments, submissions, and other legal documents.
- Assist in updating Knowledge Management data related to civil litigation and insolvency.
- Review and provide feedback on documents prepared by other lawyers.
- Lead or assist in drafting precedent documentation for the Group.
- Mentor and support less experienced lawyers.
- Participate in marketing and training programmes for the Group.
- Manage client billing, including following up on outstanding debts and adhering to internal policies.
- Ensure proper management of files, from opening to closing, and archive closed files for safekeeping.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Lawyer with 5-10 years' PQE and strong academic qualifications.
- In-depth knowledge of litigation procedures and laws, with expertise in commercial litigation and insolvency matters.
- Experience leading large commercial litigation and insolvency cases, with minimal supervision on smaller cases.
- Excellent academic record, demonstrated by degree and exam results.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with a strong command of English.
- Proven ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Competent IT skills, including proficiency with office software.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
