Senior Part Qualified Actuarial Trainee

Our client is seeking a Senior Part-Qualified or Nearly Qualified Actuarial Trainee to join their Actuarial Department on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for an individual with at least three years' experience in a life insurance company as part of an actuarial training scheme and who has made good progress with IFoA (or equivalent) examinations. The successful candidate will be part of a small team, working independently when required, with a proven track record in reporting. The role also offers exposure to pricing, product development, actuarial liability modelling, and project work.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in external reporting, including the production of valuations to appropriate standards and within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to internal financial reporting, including experience investigations in line with agreed methodologies.
  • Support the development and maintenance of actuarial liability models, data extraction routines, and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing illustration systems for bespoke quotations and adherence to actuarial calculation specifications.
  • Provide actuarial support for product development and pricing, including updating illustration systems, Prophet models, profit-testing, and product documentation.
  • Contribute to project work as required.

Job Requirements:

  • At least three years' experience in a life insurance company, ideally on the Isle of Man, though applicants from other jurisdictions will be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to technical detail.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting, with experience in the Isle of Man Risk-Based Capital regime being beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently when required.
  • Proven track record of delivering internal and external financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions within prescribed timelines.
  • Student member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent body), with significant progress in completing the Core Principles subjects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to show initiative while seeking support where necessary.
