Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compliance Manager and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) to join their regulated bank and trust company in the Isle of Man. This role requires a subject matter expert in Isle of Man regulatory requirements and will report directly to the Head of Risk & Compliance. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing expert guidance on regulatory compliance while ensuring the organisation meets its obligations. The individual will also take ownership of delivering training to the first line of defence, undertaking compliance monitoring, and tracking breaches to ensure appropriate escalation and resolution. Knowledge of data protection requirements in the Isle of Man and experience in operational risk matters will be highly desirable.
Job Duties:
- Provide expert advice on Isle of Man regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with internal policies
- Conduct mapping exercises between regulations and internal processes when regulations change
- Support and deputise for the MLRO, investigating suspicious activity, preparing reports, and engaging with external authorities as required
- Undertake deep-dive and routine monitoring exercises in line with the Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP)
- Support the Head of Risk & Compliance in developing and reporting on the CMP
- Track and maintain the register of operational risk incidents and breaches, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution
- Develop and deliver tailored training programmes on regulatory matters to employees, fostering a culture of compliance
- Review and maintain compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local regulations and best practices
- Provide guidance on Isle of Man data protection requirements and ensure compliance across the organisation
- Support the ongoing management and enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, liaising with Group colleagues where appropriate
Job Requirements:
- Professional qualification equivalent to the ICA Diploma in AML or Governance, Risk & Compliance (or willingness to undertake one)
- Strong working knowledge of risk and Isle of Man regulatory requirements
- Proven experience as a Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer
- Practical experience in investigating suspicious activity and preparing regulatory reports
- Experience in compliance monitoring or internal audit exercises
- Proficiency in business software applications, including Power BI or similar
- Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities
- Strong analytical and investigative skills to drive positive outcomes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- High ethical standards and integrity
