Our client is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to support the Head of Compliance in managing the compliance function and fostering a robust compliance culture. This role includes acting as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO), ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing risk assessments, maintaining policies and procedures, and liaising with regulatory authorities.
Job Duties:
- Assist in managing the Compliance Department alongside the Head of Compliance.
- Ensure the business adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines locally and internationally.
- Conduct client risk assessments and monitor compliance in key risk areas.
- Review, maintain, enhance, and test compliance policies and procedures, ensuring staff accessibility and awareness.
- Act as MLRO, including receiving and assessing reports related to money laundering suspicions, making necessary disclosures to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and maintaining relevant registers.
- Act as DPO, ensuring compliance with applicable Isle of Man data protection legislation and regulations.
- Support the Group Compliance Director in relation to group compliance strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare reports and updates for the directors on a regular basis.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of five GCSEs (A-C or 4-9), including English and Mathematics.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior compliance role, ideally as an MLRO.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, AML regulations, and data protection requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High levels of integrity, ethical conduct, and confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Working knowledge or experience in a DPO role and its functions.
- A relevant qualification such as an ICA Diploma in AML (or a commitment to obtaining one) is desirable.
