Head of Operations, Health and Social Care

Our client is seeking a Head of Operations to lead and manage residential, domiciliary, assisted living, befriending and day care/work services for vulnerable adults and children across the Isle of Man. This permanent, full-time role requires a strong operational leader with experience in health and social care settings, particularly with individuals who have learning disabilities, mental health needs, and complex behaviours. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of services, the supervision of Service Managers and frontline staff, and ensuring service delivery aligns with organisational values and regulatory standards.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and management across a defined zone, ensuring services are person-centred and uphold dignity, independence, and choice
  • Act as an advocate for the people supported and oversee the development and review of individualised assessment care plans
  • Ensure full staffing across projects within budget, managing workloads and addressing staff development needs
  • Support the development and initial management of new projects and contribute to policy formulation
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets and manage services within allocated finance
  • Liaise effectively with carers, professionals, voluntary bodies and community groups
  • Participate in relevant committees and working groups
  • Ensure all work aligns with organisational values, policies, and performance management processes
  • Uphold legislative and regulatory standards for care provision in the Isle of Man

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum four years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a health and social care setting
  • A relevant qualification in Social Work, Nursing, Allied Health Profession or Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services
  • Demonstrable project management experience
  • Understanding of the Isle of Man’s regulatory and commissioning environment
  • Experience of policy development and quality assurance systems (e.g. ISO)
  • Budget management expertise
  • Full valid driving licence and access to own vehicle (reasonable adjustments made if required)
  • Willingness to work flexibly and volunteer for one service user or fundraising event annually
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to make operational decisions within agreed parameters
