Our client is seeking a People Officer to join their Guernsey-based team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a key role supporting the day-to-day delivery of HR services, focusing on employee relations, conflict resolution, engagement initiatives, and operational HR support. The ideal candidate will be calm under pressure, possess solid HR expertise, and be familiar with local employment practices, including work permits.
Job Duties:
- Address employee concerns and grievances with professionalism and efficiency
- Conduct investigations and support conflict resolution in line with policy and legislation
- Provide accurate HR advice to managers and employees on employee relations matters
- Oversee daily HR operations, including policy implementation and record-keeping
- Assist in maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and activities that foster a positive workplace culture
- Analyse employee feedback and recommend improvements
- Support the delivery of training and development programmes for staff and managers
- Contribute to the performance management process through guidance and facilitation
- Act as a first point of contact for HR queries, ensuring timely and helpful support
- Assist with compliance and guidance related to local employment laws and work permits
- Support the HR team in managing budget-conscious engagement and development activities
Job Requirements:
- CIPD Level 3 qualification is essential
- Proven experience in a dedicated HR role with a strong focus on employee relations
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage sensitive matters with integrity and discretion
- Good working knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation
- Strong organisational skills and proficiency in Office 365
- Calm, professional demeanour and resilience in a busy and demanding environment
- Knowledge of Guernsey employment laws and work permit processes
- Previous experience in the airline or transport sector
- Experience working with or within the States of Guernsey
