Our client is seeking a temporary Internal Communications Executive to join their dynamic team within the Cabinet Office, located in Government Office, Douglas. The role is full-time, comprising 37 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering effective internal communications across the organisation, ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with strategic priorities. This position acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and collaborates across departments to maintain transparency and consistency in messaging.
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement an internal communications strategy that supports organisational goals and fosters employee engagement.
- Deliver a proactive schedule of impactful and engaging internal communications across the public service.
- Ensure effective and efficient delivery of consistent messages to influence colleagues.
- Manage and optimise internal communication platforms for timely and effective information dissemination.
- Liaise with senior officers and departmental leads to coordinate messaging and provide professional advice on communication issues.
- Support the development and execution of internal campaigns promoting organisational values and key initiatives.
- Provide employees with timely updates during organisational changes or crises, maintaining trust and clarity.
- Monitor the effectiveness of internal communications and offer insights to improve engagement and alignment.
- Contribute to cross-government initiatives and build strong working relationships with government and external agencies.
- Think creatively to develop new methods for reaching and influencing stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English.
- Diploma or degree in public relations, corporate communications, journalism, or a similar discipline.
- Evidence of continuous professional development with membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., Institute of Internal Communication / Chartered Institute for Public Relations).
- Relevant experience in a media or corporate communications environment.
- Experience providing internal communications advice to clients.
- Proven ability to research, develop, and deliver internal communication strategies, plans, and campaigns.
- Experience delivering an engaging internal communication programme through various channels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear messages.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact appropriately with contacts at all levels.
- Ability to manage time effectively and organise workloads.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and experienced in managing intranets, particularly Microsoft SharePoint or similar platforms.
- Keen interest in media, politics, and current affairs.
- Creative with the ability to innovate and present ideas effectively.
- Committed, resilient, and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Trusted individual who can foster trust within the team.
