Assistant Manager

Our client is a medium-sized, independent Chartered Accountancy practice located in Douglas on the Isle of Man. They provide tailored financial and accounting solutions to both Isle of Man and international clients. This role is for an Assistant Manager or an individual seeking to move into a managerial position upon qualification, joining a busy general accountancy practice and corporate service provider.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee a small team and report directly to a Manager and/or Partner.
  • Manage and maintain client relationships and engagements.
  • Ensure the timely preparation of financial statements and oversee taxation and VAT returns and assessments.
  • Handle administration of companies, which varies between clients.
  • Facilitate communication between the Assistant Manager, the Manager, and the Partner on pertinent client matters.
  • Review work and organise assignments for junior staff.
  • Assist, supervise, and train junior members of the team.
  • Conduct appraisals and training sessions, and attend management meetings.
  • Liaise with the Compliance team to ensure adherence to compliance procedures and maintain due diligence.
  • Represent the firm in a managerial capacity while conducting oneself in a professional manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Part qualified or a final year ACCA or ACA trainee.
  • Newly qualified or up to two years post-qualification experience, preferably practice trained.
  • Excellent communication and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and train junior staff.
  • Discretion, diplomacy, and a confident approach are essential.
  • Interest in broadening experience across all aspects of general accountancy and trust services for high-value clients.
  • Audit experience is not a necessary requirement.
