Legal Assistant, Private Client

Our client is seeking a Legal Assistant to manage a dedicated caseload as allocated by the partner, fee earners, and other colleagues within the department. The successful candidate will undertake various tasks to support the department, ensuring that all client work is managed in accordance with the detailed procedures and quality standards expected. This role involves engaging with clients directly, providing essential legal advice, and completing administrative tasks related to estate and delegation management. The position is full-time with a focus on delivering high standards of client care and maintaining confidentiality in all operations.

Job Duties:

  • Manage all client work allocated by the partner and fee earners, adhering to established procedures and quality standards
  • Handle estate and delegation administration, including both probate application preparation and management of estates
  • Meet new clients, take instructions, and provide legal advice
  • Conduct legal research as needed
  • Prepare for court hearings, including the creation of briefs for advocates and necessary bundles of paperwork
  • Draft wills and trusts and attend client meetings for will signings
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to keep them updated on their cases
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all client documentation and information
  • Achieve personal billing and time recording targets
  • Liaise with credit control regarding client matters as appropriate
  • Foster good working relationships with clients, external organisations, and colleagues
  • Promote the services and ethos of the firm proactively
  • Comply with the requirements associated with relevant accreditations and client charters

Job Requirements:

  • Hold a law degree or equivalent qualification
  • Ideally possess a minimum of 1 year of relevant office experience in the legal sector
  • Experience in dealing with clients effectively
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Proficient in using computers and related technology efficiently
  • Disciplined in time recording, billing, and pursuing outstanding bills
  • Strong planning and organisation skills to achieve goals systematically
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing requests
  • Strong client focus with an emphasis on satisfaction
  • Collaborative team player who actively contributes to team goals
  • Exhibits honesty, integrity, and sound judgment in all dealings
  • Embraces opportunities to promote the department and firm positively
