Legal Secretary

Our client is a well-established and growing legal general practice with an extensive client base and a strong reputation in the areas of Family, Property, Commercial, Private Client, and Litigation, operating successfully from four offices that serve the local community. The ethos of this organisation is to provide accessible legal services to everyone in need of support. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary to join their team. The successful postholder will report to an Advocate and will be responsible for providing efficient and effective secretarial support to senior members of the firm. You will ensure the smooth flow of client documents, correspondence, and the maintenance of client files. This full-time role presents a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking to develop, grow, and progress within administration and business support in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Job Duties:

  • Dealing accurately and effectively with queries from members in respect of legal cases, ensuring confidentiality is maintained
  • Preparing written correspondence, including audio and copy typing
  • Maintaining and managing case files
  • Overseeing the organisation's digital and physical records system, including archiving and ensuring adherence to agreed procedures
  • Taking minutes during meetings as directed
  • Conducting strong research skills
  • Preparing court statements and forms
  • Transcribing and proofreading legal documents
  • Supporting legal research and communicating with clients, experts, lawyers, opposing counsel, and other staff

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a legal secretary or in a similar legal administrative/support role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Experience in providing administrative or secretarial support, including diary management, minute taking, and audio typing
  • Familiarity with maintaining a records or case management system
