Senior Finance Assistant

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Finance Assistant to join their finance team, offering a permanent, full-time role in an office-based environment. The successful candidate will be a crucial member of the finance team, providing essential support and contributing to the efficient management of financial operations. The role encompasses various responsibilities, including payment processing and managing financial records, which are vital for maintaining the integrity of financial operations. Job Duties:

  • Process payments, including electronic payments and telegraphic transfers.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee bank accounts and update cashbook spreadsheets.
  • Review inward bank statements and reconcile them against cashbook records.
  • Produce weekly cash balance and treasury reports in line with client requirements.
  • Process and allocate receipts (cheques, cash, and telegraphic transfers).
  • Code and post entries into SUN.
  • Manage the purchase ledger, including coding, processing, monitoring, and handling invoices from receipt through to payment within agreed terms.
  • Manage the sales ledger, including scheduling, raising, coding, tracking, and reconciling invoices and recharges through to receipt within agreed terms.
  • Oversee the archiving process and ensure accurate, up-to-date record keeping.
  • Coordinate electronic scanning and filing of all transactions.
  • Keep bank mandates and signatory lists updated as required.
  • Maintain and update internal procedures.
  • Administer the Hellenic Claims database, including recharging recoverable claim costs to reinsurers.
  • Assist other members of the finance team and perform general office administration duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience of banking systems (essential).
  • Numerate, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Able to work well under pressure and achieve set targets.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in a busy team.
  • Good communication skills for interaction with other departments, external directors, and banks.
  • Some knowledge of bookkeeping.
  • Experience of SUN general ledger system (desirable but not essential).
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.
