Our client is seeking a Group Compliance Officer who will play a crucial role in ensuring that their organisation and its subsidiary companies understand and continue to comply with their respective legal and regulatory obligations. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across the business, providing consistent support and guidance with a specific focus on regulatory compliance in alignment with internal Group Policies and Standards. This role is full-time, with a dynamic and supportive work environment that values professional growth. Key duties include actively contributing to the daily activities of the Compliance Team, delivering a customer-centric Compliance Assurance Programme, and managing compliance-related breaches. The Group Compliance Officer will also be responsible for promoting a positive compliance culture and maintaining the Group Compliance Calendar, ensuring timely reporting and submissions. Additionally, this position involves horizon scanning for developments in the regulatory environment and supporting compliance training across the organisation.
Job Duties:
- Actively contribute to the day-to-day activities of the Compliance Team, in line with the overarching objectives of the Group Risk and Compliance Department.
- Assist with and deliver a customer-centric Compliance Assurance Programme by conducting regular and ad-hoc compliance assurance monitoring in accordance with the Group Compliance Assurance Monitoring Framework.
- Analyse the results of compliance testing to identify and recommend areas for improvement in internal governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks; provide reporting of the results.
- Manage and assist the business in the identification, recording, investigation, and resolution of compliance-related breaches.
- Proactively promote and support a positive compliance culture across the Group; assist with the preparation and delivery of Compliance training to ensure all colleagues remain aware of their regulatory obligations.
- Assist in maintaining the Group Compliance Calendar, ensuring reporting and submissions are timely and effective.
- Horizon scan key developments in the broader regulatory environment; support analysis and communication of consultation papers, thematic reviews, and other external developments across various jurisdictions.
- Assist and support the Compliance Manager in maintaining the Group Compliance Assurance Monitoring Framework, guiding organisational behaviours for customer-centric decision-making.
- Support the business in ensuring compliance awareness among Life Companies, service providers, and employees regarding their regulatory obligations.
- Maintain adequate, effective, and auditable compliance-related Policies, Procedures, reporting mechanisms, and training materials.
- Review and sign-off sales literature, marketing materials, and communications.
- Support the wider Group Risk & Compliance Department to achieve key objectives aligned with departmental and organisational goals.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working within a Compliance function, preferably in the insurance industry, with a desire to advance in compliance.
- Relevant Compliance qualification is advantageous.
- Experience in compliance monitoring and control testing, demonstrating strong research, investigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance different perspectives and support entrepreneurial decision-making.
- Strong investigative skills and attention to detail.
- Aptitude for developing a good understanding of the regulatory regimes applicable to the organisation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to various audiences.
- Ability to understand, assess, and communicate the impact of changes in regulatory environments.
- Capability to deliver compliance-related training effectively.
- Ability to build constructive working relationships across the business and share knowledge in compliance techniques.
- Proactive and enthusiastic about compliance in a busy environment.
- Competent in Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and knowledge of SharePoint.
- Understanding of the principles and objectives of ethics and integrity.
- Good working knowledge of risk management, internal control, and corporate governance principles is desirable.
