Trainee Vessel Operator

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Vessel Operator to join their Operations Department on a permanent, office-based basis. This role offers the opportunity to work within a global leader in dry bulk vessel shipments. The successful candidate will support internal and third-party customers throughout voyage and time charter fixtures. The position is well suited to an individual who is eager to learn and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced maritime environment. The Trainee Vessel Operator will gain exposure to international shipping processes, compliance standards, and voyage execution. This role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across various functions. Job Duties:

  • Support day-to-day vessel operations under supervision.
  • Assist with logistics, shipping, and supply chain activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation, coordination, and review of voyage-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor voyage progress, deadlines, and communication channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operational execution.
  • Learn to identify issues, escalate concerns, and support problem-solving throughout the voyage cycle.

Job Requirements:

  • Ideally educated to degree level; a degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, or Logistics is advantageous but not essential.
  • An interest in shipping, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Any prior exposure to a logistics-related role would be beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, ideally with some general office work experience.
