Learning & Development Manager

Our client is seeking a Learning and Development Manager to design, lead and embed a structured and high‑impact learning strategy aligned to their business priorities and values. The role requires someone who can provide strategic direction for learning while remaining hands‑on in designing, delivering and improving development programmes across the organisation. Our client needs an individual who can ensure that learning initiatives are purposeful, measurable and effectively implemented. You will be responsible for identifying skills gaps, establishing development priorities and designing frameworks that support leadership growth and career progression. The position also involves overseeing learning systems, managing governance and ensuring learning activities align with organisational culture. You will partner with senior leaders, support effective development conversations and ensure learning is embedded into day‑to‑day operations. This role calls for someone who is both strategic and operational, able to manage learning activity professionally and deliver consistent outcomes across the business.

Job Duties:

  • Developing and delivering a learning and development strategy aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Identifying skills gaps and development priorities through data and stakeholder insights.
  • Designing learning frameworks that support progression, role readiness and leadership development.
  • Ensuring learning activities align with organisational values and support consistent colleague experience.
  • Designing and overseeing leadership, management, professional and technical learning programmes.
  • Ensuring learning solutions are scalable and effective across multi‑jurisdictional environments.
  • Overseeing mandatory and compliance learning to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Evaluating learning effectiveness and ensuring outcomes are measurable.
  • Owning the learning management system and wider learning infrastructure.
  • Setting governance, standards and structure for learning pathways, reporting and content.
  • Collaborating with the Learning and Development Administrator on system management and configuration.
  • Using data and insight to inform learning decisions and drive improvement.
  • Partnering with senior leaders to understand development needs and shape solutions.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor on capability development.
  • Supporting managers to embed learning into performance and development conversations.
  • Managing relationships with external training providers.
  • Providing direction and coaching to learning resources.
  • Ensuring learning activity is governed, consistent and professionally delivered.
  • Monitoring trends and best practice to keep learning approaches relevant and effective.
  • Maintaining learning policies, standards and governance frameworks.
  • Producing learning updates, reports and insights for senior leadership.
  • Ensuring learning activities are inclusive, accessible and aligned to organisational culture.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Learning and Development Manager or Senior L&D role.
  • Strong background in designing and delivering learning strategies and programmes.
  • Experience implementing or owning a learning management system or learning infrastructure.
  • Ability to convert business needs into structured and effective learning solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience using data to measure learning impact.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience within professional or regulated environments (desirable).
  • Experience designing leadership or management development frameworks (desirable).
  • Familiarity with blended and digital learning platforms (desirable).
  • Coaching or facilitation experience (desirable).
  • Strategic thinker with strong delivery focus.
  • Credible, confident and pragmatic.
  • Comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Detail‑focused with strong awareness of the bigger picture.
