Assistant Underwriter

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join a leading organisation in the Greek War Risks insurance sector. This role is ideal for candidates with excellent communication skills who thrive in a fast-paced team environment. An insurance background would be beneficial but is not mandatory. The position reports to the Underwriting Director and offers flexible working hours from Monday to Friday, typically between 9am and 5pm, with a one-hour lunch break. The primary objective of this role is to support the Senior Underwriter and Underwriting Director in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. Duties will include administrative responsibilities, Additional Premium declarations, ship tracking, and liaising with shipowners, brokers, and reinsurers to ensure exceptional customer service is delivered to members.

Job Duties:

• Respond swiftly and effectively to member queries
• Address inquiries from banks and solicitors promptly
• Prepare new vessels for entry and attach documentation upon delivery
• Create mortgage documentation
• Achieve proficiency in using HWRB systems
• Organise documentation for vessel value amendments
• Declare Additional Premium calls
• Build and maintain relationships with members, banks, and solicitors
• Maintain the Association’s ship tracking register
• Collaborate with the Compliance Department to carry out required due diligence (World Check)
• Undertake other ad hoc tasks as required

Job Requirements:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively within a small team
• Strong IT skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Capability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise efficiently
• Insurance experience is desirable
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
• Previous line management experience would be an advantage
