Client Bookkeeper

Our client is seeking a dedicated Client Bookkeeper to ensure that financial records are kept fully maintained and updated. This role is based in the Isle of Man and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic environment that prioritises client-centric services. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing VAT returns, completing client bank reconciliations, and facilitating the production and filing of annual financial statements and reports. This role is fundamental in ensuring readiness for audit purposes where appropriate. The Client Bookkeeper will work closely with client administrators and will engage with various stakeholders to address queries of an accounting nature. Job Duties:

  • Ensure all entities have accounting ledgers set up on the relevant accounting system.
  • Maintain consistency with the central chart of accounts, ensuring any additions or changes are approved by line management.
  • Keep the timetable of work for all clients up to date.
  • Process all purchase and sales invoices for client accounting.
  • Post bank entries either manually or through upload.
  • Reconcile customer receipts, supplier payments, and bank statements.
  • Process monthly journals and accruals as required.
  • Review all ledger accounts to prepare for year-end statements.
  • Prepare year-end journals and accounts files for the accountant.
  • Engage with client administrators regarding accounting queries.
  • Prepare the timetable for client VAT and tax returns, ensuring timely production of draft returns for review.
  • Prepare VAT returns for review and submission.
  • Prepare client bank reconciliations for review.
  • Produce management accounts and raise internal invoices via the accounting system.
  • Prepare aged debtor and creditor lists and bespoke reports as required.
  • Draft simple financial statements and complete time input in the time billing system.
  • Prepare minutes to approve tax returns and financial statements.
  • Undertake other duties as required according to the evolving nature of the role and team.
  • Display and adhere to the organisational behaviours in all aspects of the role.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. CAT/AAT) or willingness to study.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a Client Service Provider or related environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting software systems, e.g. Viewpoint and Xero.
  • Experience in processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accounting ledger systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and financial account regulations, including statutory forms and disclosure requirements.
  • Strong IT skills with practical experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service ethic.
