Payables Assistant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payables Assistant to join their finance team in the Isle of Man. This full-time role will support the day-to-day accounts payable function across the group, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the wider finance operations. As a Payables Assistant, you will be responsible for managing supplier accounts, processing invoices, and preparing payment runs, all while ensuring compliance with company policies. Job Duties:

  • Manage supplier accounts, including onboarding new suppliers and maintaining accurate records
  • Monitor and manage the accounts payable inbox, responding to queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts (3-way matching)
  • Maintain and manage purchase orders, ensuring they are correctly raised and approved
  • Prepare and set up supplier payment runs in line with company schedules
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Build strong working relationships both internally and externally
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls
  • Assist with month-end processes
  • Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency within the payables function

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts payable role is desirable
  • Alternatively, an entry-level finance qualification (college or university) with a strong interest in accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic to intermediate level)
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred but not essential)
