Paralegal

This role is designed to provide a comprehensive and confidential paralegal service to the relevant team, ensuring full support is provided. The position is within a firm that specialises in contentious trusts and estates, company and funds, insolvency, and fraud. It presents a fantastic platform for individuals keen on progressing to the Trainee Solicitor Programme. The successful candidate will be expected to meet an agreed target of chargeable hours per day or week, engaging in client communication, various research tasks, and drafting simple legal documents. This role also includes responsibilities such as screening incoming telephone calls, arranging conference and outgoing calls, and assisting with team-specific financial and matter management tasks. Additionally, the paralegal will undertake searches at the request of partners, manage client records, and ensure that all file documentation is current. Participation in team meetings and social events is also a part of this role.

Job Duties:

  • Meet an agreed target of chargeable hours through various tasks including client communication, research, and drafting legal documents
  • Screen incoming telephone calls, accurately relaying messages and arranging calls for the team
  • Assist with financial and matter management, including budgets and aged debt reporting
  • Undertake searches as requested by partners at an agreed chargeable rate
  • Draft and amend legal documents and correspondence, preparing court documents as required
  • Delegate administration tasks as per the team's workflow model
  • Utilise services provided by the Global Support Team
  • Accurately set up new client matters in the client accounting and database systems
  • Maintain and amend client records and ensure files are kept current and properly archived
  • Undertake client-specific business development arrangements and manage communications accordingly
  • Actively participate in team meetings and social events
  • Support and trial new initiatives in innovation and technology

Job Requirements:

  • Previous legal experience in a paralegal role or relevant studies (LLB/GDL/LPC)
  • Appetite to progress to the Trainee Solicitor Programme
  • Understanding of time entry principles to manage targeted chargeable hours
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Word and Outlook, with a working knowledge of Excel
  • Administrative and document management experience
