Assistant Manager, Client Services

This role is suitable for a newly qualified accountant or an individual with early post-qualification experience who is keen to expand their expertise in general accountancy and trust services while developing managerial and leadership skills. The position entails overseeing a small team, reporting to a Manager or Director, and managing client relationships across a diverse portfolio. Key responsibilities include the supervision and review of payroll preparation for clients in the Isle of Man, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The Assistant Manager also plays a pivotal role in the administration of client companies, which vary in size and complexity, and is responsible for delegating tasks to junior staff while providing guidance and mentorship. This role offers valuable opportunities for professional development through in-house management training and additional external training post-probation.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and manage a small team
  • Review preparation of Isle of Man payroll for clients
  • Maintain strong client relationships across a varied portfolio
  • Oversee client engagements in both general accountancy and trust services
  • Ensure timely preparation and review of financial statements
  • Oversee taxation and VAT returns and associated assessments
  • Administer client companies of varying sizes and complexities
  • Coordinate and allocate work for junior staff
  • Review work of junior team members and provide guidance
  • Assist in supervising, training, and developing junior staff
  • Participate in staff appraisals and internal training sessions
  • Communicate regularly with Managers and Directors regarding client matters
  • Ensure compliance with firm and regulatory requirements, liaising with the Compliance team on due diligence and KYC documentation
  • Represent the firm in a professional managerial capacity

Job Requirements:

  • Newly qualified ACCA or ACA, or up to two years’ post-qualification experience
  • Practice training would be beneficial
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and develop junior staff
  • High levels of discretion, diplomacy, and professional confidence
  • Keen to broaden experience in general accountancy and trust services for high-value clients
  • Audit experience is not required
