Business Development Manager (Corporate & Funds)

An experienced and commercially aware Business Development Manager is sought to support the growth and development of the Corporate and Investment Funds service lines across Jersey and Guernsey. This full-time position involves working closely with the European Head of Business Development and the global service line leads, along with relevant partners and senior lawyers. The role encompasses driving revenue growth through the shaping and delivery of focused plans, strengthening client relationships, enhancing market profile, and identifying new opportunities across both offices. Key responsibilities also include strategy, planning, financial management, and effective use of data to target clients and intermediaries. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee events, conferences, seminars, and sponsorship activities, ensuring optimal delivery and follow-up. The position requires a proactive approach to developing relationships and business development outcomes.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to develop and implement client-focused Business Development plans for the Corporate and Investment Funds service lines in Jersey and Guernsey.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and prioritisation, aligning activities with commercial objectives and market opportunities.
  • Identify, qualify, and help progress new business opportunities across jurisdictions and practices.
  • Maintain effective target, client, and intermediaries lists, assisting partners with outreach efforts.
  • Produce high-quality distribution lists for client communications and support business development trip planning.
  • Own the BD strategy for priority Corporate and Investment Funds conferences and sponsorships, working with internal teams.
  • Manage high-quality legal directory submissions and coordinate pitches, proposals, and presentations with a focus on commercial relevance.
  • Build and maintain external networks to enhance market intelligence and the profile of the service lines.
  • Optimise memberships for Corporate and Investment Funds, measuring and reporting on their value.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications with over 7 years of experience in Business Development within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Strong commercial understanding of the legal and professional services markets, particularly in Corporate and Investment Funds.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective BD plans and targeting programmes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across seniority levels and jurisdictions.
  • Confidence in networking with clients and industry professionals in banking and finance markets.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive and pragmatic approach to strategy and delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with project management capabilities across multiple workstreams.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, reporting, and BD technology, with the ability to utilise data effectively.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and an openness to adopting new BD technologies.
