MLRO & Financial Crime Compliance Manager

This role as a MLRO & Financial Crime Compliance Manager involves supporting the Head of Compliance within the Isle of Man Compliance team to effectively deliver Financial Crime Compliance duties. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent performance and compliance with evolving regulatory standards. This position necessitates a thorough understanding of financial crime regulations, as well as the initiation and review of internal suspicious activity reports (SARs). The individual will act as the designated MLRO, liaising with the Finance Intelligence Unit (FIU) and responding appropriately to law enforcement requests. Additionally, timely communication of compliance-related matters to the relevant authorities is critical. This role includes maintaining vital registers, reviewing high-risk AML/CFT matters, and participating in the development of a strong compliance culture within the organisation. The position will also involve delivering training to staff, preparing statistical returns, and managing the deputy MLRO’s performance.

Job Duties:

  • Act as the designated MLRO in line with Financial Crime Regulations.
  • Review and investigate internal SARs and obtain legal advice as necessary.
  • Liaise with the Finance Intelligence Unit (FIU) and lead responses to law enforcement production orders.
  • Advise the Head of Compliance on financial crime compliance related matters needing notification to the IOM Financial Services Authority (IOMFSA).
  • Ensure accurate checking of relevant databases following notices from regulatory authorities or law enforcement.
  • Maintain Internal, External, Enquiries, and PEP Registers.
  • Review high-risk AML/CFT matters on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide guidance to business administration teams for effective client relationship management.
  • Participate in local committees, including the Client Acceptance Committee as required.
  • Review payments and activities that require Compliance/MLRO sign-off.
  • Lead and deliver AML/CFT training to employees.
  • Report directly to the Board and escalate relevant issues as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver Statistical Return Forms/MI data to IOM FSA and Group promptly.
  • Manage the performance of the Deputy MLRO.
  • Maintain awareness of obligations under relevant AML/CFT legislation and best practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar compliance role, particularly in financial crime and regulatory environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Isle of Man compliance landscape.
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly and effectively.
  • Experience in delivering training and building a compliance culture.
  • Ability to manage relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Familiarity with AML/CFT policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
