Client Accountant

The role of Client Accountant is vital in providing accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of clients. This position offers both permanent and temporary opportunities, with the focus on the Guernsey Client Accounting team operating from the Isle of Man office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of periodic financial reports in adherence to relevant accounting and industry standards. Duties include liaising with stakeholders, external accountants, and auditors as required. The accountant will maintain accurate ledgers and ensure all financial information is recorded timely and correctly. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented and able to deliver high-quality results. Aside from the accounting tasks, the Client Accountant will be expected to collaborate with the administration team and provide technical assistance to colleagues. This position allows for contributions towards various financial reporting deadlines and maintaining up-to-date client records.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the recording of financial information and prepare financial statements for an allocated portfolio.
  • Maintain accurate day-to-day client ledgers with all transactions aligned with source documentation.
  • Liaise with the administration team on accounts queries.
  • Prepare annual financial statements, solvency tests, asset statements, and other ad-hoc financial reporting.
  • Complete and input time into the time billing system daily.
  • Maintain an awareness of changes to the financial, legal, and regulatory framework.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., ACCA) or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Preferably experience in fiduciary accounting for company and trust structures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of accuracy, initiative, and exceptional organisational skills, proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to various bespoke IT/accounting systems and banking platforms.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
