Data & Systems Analyst

This role involves providing essential system and project support within the Systems Support and Development department. The organisation seeks a bright and analytical problem-solver who will work closely with the systems development team on analysis, design, and developmental tasks. The position is permanent, and while full-time is preferred, flexibility may be afforded for the right candidate. Located in Guernsey, the role is primarily office-based, although remote or hybrid arrangements can be considered. The successful candidate will investigate and resolve issues, as well as build practical tools and solutions using Excel, SQL, and/or programming languages such as R or Python. Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to learn new technical skills quickly are vital. The organisation values structured approaches and sound working practices in candidates, irrespective of their prior experience.

Job Duties:

  • Analyse data and system issues to identify root causes and trends, numerically replicating outcomes from first principles.
  • Design and build practical tools utilising Excel, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Investigate and resolve reported issues in collaboration with users and technical teams, employing SQL and reporting tools for analysis.
  • Support testing of system enhancements through to release stages.
  • Document findings and resolutions clearly, communicating progress and outcomes effectively to stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong analytical skills and quantitative reasoning abilities, alongside high numeracy and logical capacity for problem-solving from first principles.
  • Ability to learn new tools and technical skills quickly; familiarity with Excel, SQL, R, or Python is beneficial but not essential.
  • Evidence of structured, well-documented, and well-tested working practices from any relevant background.
  • Good communication skills, capable of explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Strong academic record in a numerate, technical, or analytical discipline is preferred; however, exceptional graduates seeking to start their careers will also be considered.
