Senior Associate

This role involves working as part of a team to provide a full range of litigation services to clients. The Senior Associate will take principal charge of work assignments within the group, with minimal partner intervention. This position entails extensive direct client contact and supervision of paralegals and legal assistants. The successful candidate will play an active role in identifying and implementing new business initiatives and will work alongside the Partners to grow the business by assisting in the development and implementation of the strategic plans for the department. This full-time role will focus on delivering a high-quality, timely and professional service that meets client needs while managing other important responsibilities.

Job Duties:

  • Manage and co-ordinate client work as delegated by the Partners, including researching, writing opinions, reviewing documentation, drafting, and preparing court cases.
  • Ensure all clients receive high-quality, timely, and professional services.
  • Take personal responsibility for achieving target hours, proactively manage billings and debtors, and maintain consistent time recording.
  • Delegate to and actively supervise the work of junior staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in the motivation, management, and development of other fee earners and support staff.
  • Support the Partners in building an efficient team structure, which may include involvement in recruitment.
  • Promote and develop the global litigation team by collaborating with partners and associates across jurisdictions, engaging in business development, and participating in know-how activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business plans for the practice area.
  • Promote and strengthen the brand.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities, support new ventures, and develop services and the client base.
  • Manage additional activities/projects as required by the Partners.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations and manage risk exposure in accordance with the firm's guidelines.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with 6+ years PQE, with Jersey/UK/Commonwealth qualification.
  • Significant experience in the practice area.
  • Strong technical ability and drafting/research skills.
  • Some delegation and supervisory experience.
  • Business development experience.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with research platforms and document management systems.
  • Understanding of key financial indicators relating to time recording and billing.
  • Strong organisational skills and prioritisation abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
