This role involves joining a leading Litigation team, where the individual will enhance the Jersey Litigation team and contribute to providing an exceptional client service. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of litigation matters, including trust disputes, insolvencies, boardroom battles, fraud and asset recovery, as well as regulatory and arbitration matters. The position requires full involvement in delivering litigation services, supporting partners, and taking principal responsibility for contentious cases. Responsibilities include liaising with clients, managing client work, conducting legal research, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant procedures. The role also entails supporting and developing junior team members, contributing to business development initiatives, and promoting the firm’s brand. The position is full-time and offers significant opportunities for professional growth and collaboration across multidisciplinary projects.

Job Duties:

  • Deliver excellent quality, timely, and professional client service.
  • Liaise with clients and provide legal advice as delegated by partners.
  • Manage and coordinate client work, including researching, writing opinions, reviewing documentation, drafting, and preparing cases for court.
  • Draft, review, summarise, and check legal documents, forms, and correspondence for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's CDD and AML procedures when opening and closing matters.
  • Efficiently manage time recording, billing, and collections in line with firm policy.
  • Update the Client Relationship Management system.
  • Assist with final letters and file closings when required.
  • Support and develop junior team members and staff, including paralegals and trainees.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on international and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Take responsibility for various tasks and projects as required by partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business development plans.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and assist in enhancing the firm's services.
  • Engage in non-chargeable activities to build the firm’s knowledge and reputation.
  • Promote the firm's brand through attendance at functions and client events.

Job Requirements:

  • 2 to 6 years PQE with a UK/Commonwealth qualification.
  • Relevant litigation experience is essential.
  • Experience in an offshore jurisdiction is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong drafting skills.
  • Good financial awareness and discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities, both orally and in writing.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Responsible, disciplined, and methodical approach with attention to detail.
  • Initiative to resolve issues and work independently with suitable supervision.
  • Flexibility, energy, and enthusiasm are vital attributes.
