Trainee / Dental Nurse

This role involves providing support in a dynamic dental practice, offering opportunities for individuals to develop their skills in a collaborative environment. The position requires a dedicated person who is willing to learn and work as part of a friendly team. Candidates should be comfortable working on their feet throughout the day and have a positive, enthusiastic attitude. The dental practice offers both cosmetic and restorative treatments, and successful applicants will receive comprehensive training, including support to obtain NEBDN qualifications. This full-time role involves Monday to Thursday hours from 8 am to 6 pm and Friday from 8 am to 2 pm, with the possibility of Saturday half-days if desired. There is a strong emphasis on professional growth and the opportunity to advance in skills and knowledge during your journey.

Job Duties:

  • Tidying and preparing the surgery
  • Anticipating treatments and preparing instruments
  • Cleaning and sterilising instruments
  • Passing instruments to the Dentist as instructed
  • Preparing material and maintaining sterile conditions within the surgery
  • Supporting the patient to ensure they are comfortable and at ease
  • Assisting the Dentist in recording information about each patient
  • Carrying out stock control, including replacement components
  • Tidying the laboratory and kitchen area
  • Performing occasional reception duties, including answering phones and booking appointments
  • Making dental models in the laboratory, with full training provided
  • Preparing tea and coffee for the Dentist and staff as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Good command of the English language, both speaking and writing
  • Licence to live and work in Guernsey (unless similarly qualified)
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Good communication skills and some level of IT literacy
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team
  • Capacity to work quickly and under pressure
  • Dental Nurse qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Unqualified applicants must be willing to train for the Diploma in Dental Nursing within two years
