Jersey Qualified Lawyer, Dispute Resolution

Our client is seeking a Jersey qualified lawyer with between 5 to 10 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) to lead their Wills & Probate Department. This full-time position presents an exciting opportunity to oversee one of Jersey’s most established and respected practices in this field. You will manage a varied caseload primarily focused on complex wills drafting and estate planning, alongside supervising a team of five, including both lawyers and legal assistants. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, ensuring a high-quality service throughout the department. You will also play a crucial role in driving the growth of the department, aligning with the firm’s strategic objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

JOB DUTIES:

• You will be responsible for a varied caseload, addressing complex wills drafting and estate planning matters.
• You will advise clients on lasting powers of attorney, estate administration, management of delegations, and all related aspects of Jersey law.
• You will supervise a team of legal professionals, ensuring they effectively handle their caseloads and providing oversight as necessary.
• You will maintain primary responsibility for client management, taking cases from initial instruction and overseeing all client relationships in the department.
• You will report directly to the Partners regarding the management of the department, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives.
• You will lead business development initiatives by identifying new client opportunities, enhancing existing relationships, and contributing to the overall growth and profile of the firm.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• You are a Jersey Advocate or a Jersey Écrivain with 5 to 10 years PQE.
• You have experience in advising on Jersey law regarding wills and estates for both local clients and non-domiciliaries.
• You are technically proficient, providing superior advice on wills and estates.
• You possess a genuine interest in law and a strong desire to deliver high-quality service to clients.
• You are deeply familiar with Jersey procedural rules relating to probate applications and matters concerning wills and estates.
