Assistant Accountant

Our client is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their Accounting team in Jersey. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment, servicing the needs of a diverse portfolio of clients. Job Duties:

  • Maintain all electronic and paper files for allocated clients.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all client accounts.
  • Perform bookkeeping on SUN systems for allocated Fund structures (Real Estate & Private Equity), companies, and trusts.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for allocated clients.
  • Prepare Investor capital accounts.
  • Handle ad hoc Investor queries and confirmations.
  • Prepare annual Financial Statements (UK GAAP/IFRS, audited and unaudited).
  • Support senior staff throughout the audit process.
  • Assist with team projects, including updates to processes and record-keeping procedures.
  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures, including meeting all personal Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Educated to at least ‘A’ level standard or equivalent (grades A-C), with GCSE Mathematics and English (Grades A-C / 9-4).
  • Willingness to study towards a relevant professional qualification.
  • Previous bookkeeping and accounting knowledge or qualifications are desired but not essential.
  • Interest in starting studies towards ACCA qualification.
  • Relevant practical work experience would be an advantage.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers and clients.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle a variety of situations.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and Word skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong numeracy and good written skills.
