IT Support Officer

Our client is seeking a Tier 1 IT Support Officer to provide a first-line support desk function, acting as the primary point of contact for IT support. The role involves managing the IT Helpdesk application, ensuring calls are logged, prioritised, and appropriately escalated when necessary. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the client's group and managed clients across various software and technologies. Job Duties:

  • Provide first-line IT support for all software and technologies, escalating issues to second-line support when necessary.
  • Administer backup software and perform server patching, including out-of-hours work.
  • Implement new banking systems, create users, set up signatories, and handle password resets.
  • Roll out new software for business processes as required.
  • Carry out maintenance on printers, including troubleshooting errors and replacing parts.
  • Provide training to staff and create user-friendly documentation.
  • Monitor and update the helpdesk support system, ensuring it is used correctly.
  • Regularly update clients on their support call status and communicate progress efficiently.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system checks of backups, anti-virus updates, etc.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts across numerous applications.
  • Maintain the Intranet, focusing on security and group management.
  • Develop new areas of support as required and proactively research methods to meet demands.
  • Create and maintain system documentation as requested.
  • Execute desk moves, PC builds, and roll out new equipment when needed.
  • Provide support on IS projects, executing a personal project portfolio as instructed by senior staff.
  • Manage the setup of new starters and termination of leavers in line with company policy.
  • Respond to any other reasonable requests by management.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in computer networks and system maintenance or a similar role.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management skills, capable of working independently as well as in a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience.
