Our client is seeking a Network Transmission Engineer responsible for managing and supporting fibre XGS-PON and copper core systems, including System X switch and broadband MSAN infrastructure. Job Duties:
- Install, commission, and maintain the XGS-PON network and related management systems.
- Support stable operation of the Core Network, including SDH and DC Power systems.
- Assist the System X engineering team with maintenance and fault management.
- Collaborate with facilities and engineering teams to ensure network and infrastructure integrity.
- Act as Clerk of Works, managing contractors and third-party suppliers.
- Coordinate decommissioning of legacy equipment, supporting resource allocation.
- Contribute to project feasibility, commissioning, and integration for Access Networks, off-island connectivity, and RFIs/RFPs.
- Conduct technical project management for new equipment or system implementations.
- Design, install, and commission new transmission equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve customer and network faults.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades on relevant networks.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of broadband and access systems or equivalent qualification (Degree/HNC/Business Diploma).
- Understanding of telecommunication switching systems, IP networks, routers, and switches.
- Operational knowledge of legacy systems, including MSANs and System X.
- Familiarity with system security protocols.
- Competent with computer-based systems, adaptable to learning new technologies.
- Willingness to participate in a callout rota.
- Experience with UNIX and programming or scripting.
- Knowledge of IMS and mobile core systems.
