Our client is seeking a skilled Operational Risk Specialist to support the implementation and embedding of the risk management framework across the business. Job Duties:
- Support the Head of Risk in ensuring the Board and Risk Committee are well-informed about risk and that practices align with best standards.
- Provide constructive challenge and recommendations to strengthen compliance with Risk Appetite Statements.
- Review significant strategic initiatives, risk assessments, and capital assessments for Board reporting.
- Ensure the Group operates within an agreed and effective risk management framework.
- Prepare accurate, concise, and proactive risk reports for Management and the Board to support risk-based decision-making.
- Work with Line 1 to develop monitoring measurements, such as key risk indicators, and review results regularly.
- Engage with Line 1 during product development, client take-ons, and corporate changes to ensure appropriate risk identification.
- Facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) processes with Line 1.
- Escalate material operational risks clearly, ensuring root-cause analysis and control environment improvements are implemented.
- Conduct “deep dive” reviews into business risks and controls, identifying areas for improvement and agreeing on actions with management.
- Manage the annual review process for Risk Policies with relevant stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- In-depth understanding of risk management in the life insurance industry and/or investment platform sector.
- Relevant professional qualifications or extensive experience in a key risk role.
- Strong technical knowledge of operational and financial risk categories.
- Experience in a multi-jurisdictional environment and working within businesses undergoing change and growth.
- Knowledge of market regulations and legislation within the financial services sector.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and data analysis skills.
- Ability to influence, challenge, and build sustainable relationships with stakeholders.
- Highly adaptable, reliable, and results-driven, with strong organisational skills.
- Problem-solving skills to analyse situations and provide clear, practical solutions.
