Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to oversee the sales ledger and fee management functions within the bursar’s office. This role involves working closely with external accountancy providers to maintain high financial standards, implementing new ledger systems, and ensuring effective financial management. The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills, financial expertise, and the ability to communicate sensitively with clients.
Job Duties:
- Manage the sales ledger and ensure accurate documentation and control of revenue items.
- Oversee fee accounts for clients, ensuring accurate invoicing and contract management.
- Maintain oversight of unpaid fees and liaise with solicitors or collection agencies as required.
- Advise the Head on financial best practices, including fee structures and bursary management.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Work with external auditors to support the financial audit process.
- Ensure financial systems, including Xero, Dext, and AccessPay, are up to date and functioning effectively.
- Support payroll processes and maintain knowledge of pensions, tax, and social security obligations.
- Coordinate training and support for bursarial staff in collaboration with external providers.
- Provide financial oversight for the business catering operations.
Job Requirements:
- Recognised financial management qualification.
- Proven experience in managing a sales ledger and operational finance.
- Strong IT and administrative skills, with proficiency in financial software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with clients and stakeholders.
- High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Experience working with external accountancy and audit providers is desirable.
- Understanding of fee reduction and bursary funding management is an advantage.
