Our client is seeking an Income Recovery Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role involves the administration and recovery of rental arrears, ensuring that appropriate advice and payment plans are offered to tenants, and attending Petty Debts Court when necessary. This role is essential to support the maintenance of properties and contribute to the development programme. The position is full-time, with a focus on achieving financial outcomes while maintaining excellent customer service.
Job Duties:
- Pursue the recovery of rental arrears through effective communication with tenants.
- Identify proactive and innovative approaches for the prevention and reduction of rent arrears.
- Provide appropriate advice to support tenants in adhering to their tenancy agreements.
- Agree clear and documented payment plans (where appropriate) to manage tenancy debt.
- Initiate timely escalation of actions for late payments.
- Administer Petty Debt Court actions and attend court when required.
- Prepare detailed eviction reports and liaise with tenants, relevant agencies, and legal counsel as necessary.
- Update and maintain records in the Client Relationship Management system (QL).
- Procure services required in line with documented finance processes.
- Review and approve client refund requests and tenancy extensions/renewals.
- Provide cover for colleague absences.
- Assist with broader landlord functions to achieve company objectives.
- Prepare and analyse ad hoc reports for management.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience as a credit controller is a significant advantage.
- Good general education, including a minimum of five GCSEs (Maths and English).
- A second language would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Law (Jersey) 2011 is desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Meticulous attention to detail in preparing written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and across the organisation.
- Experience with Microsoft products and Client Relationship Management software.
- A good understanding of financial or account management.
- Clean driving licence is an advantage.
