Our client is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their Compliance team in Jersey. The role involves supporting senior compliance professionals in fulfilling their Key Person responsibilities while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will assist in onboarding new business, maintaining compliance registers, conducting due diligence, and supporting compliance monitoring programmes. The position also provides an introduction to the provision of Key Person roles for client entities supervised for AML purposes by the JFSC.
Job Duties:
- Assist with the daily compliance task list, including screening results, risk assessments, and entity updates.
- Review and update compliance registers, liaising with relevant staff as necessary.
- Process and review customer and investor due diligence (CDD/ECDD).
- Conduct screening and sanctions checks as part of the business take-on process.
- Attend Risk & Compliance Committee meetings and draft meeting minutes as required.
- Assist in preparing responses for banking, legal, and regulatory due diligence requests.
- Support the development and execution of AML/CFT/CPF strategy and business risk assessments.
- Prepare and deliver MLCO and MLRO reports, including statistical analysis for governance meetings.
- Assist with compliance monitoring programmes and regulatory reporting.
- Work with client-facing teams and senior management to assess and process new business take-on.
- Conduct third-party searches and sanctions checks using relevant databases.
- Maintain compliance registers and liaise with intermediaries under the Eligible Introducer/Obliged Persons regime.
- Receive and process suspicious activity reports (SARs), liaising with the FIU and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, professional standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and manage regulatory enquiries while ensuring compliance with anti-tipping-off obligations.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of four years' compliance experience (consideration given to candidates with relevant finance industry experience).
- Currently studying towards or willing to undertake a professional qualification with a recognised compliance body (e.g. ICA).
- Preferably hold or be near completion of a JFSC Table 5 qualification.
- Strong IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of client databases (such as ViewPoint) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Understanding of corporate and trust structures.
- Knowledge of AML/CFT/CPF regulatory frameworks.
- Strong time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills.
