Our client is seeking a Tax Manager to lead a team responsible for meeting Jersey and UK tax deadlines while ensuring compliance work is completed efficiently. The successful candidate will work closely with the Tax Director, assisting with advisory services and delivering training sessions on the latest UK and Jersey tax updates. This role requires a strong background in Jersey and UK tax for individuals, trusts, and companies, including distribution rules for Jersey companies, value-added tax, non-resident landlords, trust and estate income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and annual tax on enveloped dwellings. The Tax Manager will also oversee WIP, debtors, and billing for the team.
Job Duties:
- Managing client take-on, data collection, tax computation, tax return preparation, and submission processes
- Developing and implementing best practices, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency
- Overseeing WIP, debtors, and billing for the tax team
- Identifying and mitigating tax risks
- Building and maintaining client relationships to provide a high level of service and support business growth
- Assisting the Tax Director in delivering a full range of tax services within compliance deadlines
- Managing tax provision, compliance, reporting, and filing requirements
- Ensuring timely and accurate filing of personal, corporate, and trust tax returns
- Coordinating with tax and accounting staff and liaising with third-party professionals, including solicitors, accountants, and tax advisors
- Providing internal tax advisory services and support to the business
- Training, mentoring, and developing staff members
- Conducting one-to-ones and appraisals to support team performance
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and working practices
- Acting as a positive ambassador for the organisation and contributing to a supportive team environment
Job Requirements:
- CTA qualification
- At least five years of experience in UK and Jersey tax
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- UK tax experience in the offshore market
- Experience in Jersey tax for individuals, companies, and trusts
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Management training undertaken
- Proven people management skills and experience
