Data Protection Analyst

Our client is seeking a Data Protection Analyst to ensure compliance with internal policies and data protection regulations across the organisation. Based in Guernsey and reporting to the Information Risk Analyst and Chief Information Security Officer, the role involves overseeing data governance, supporting risk assessments, and assisting with data protection-related tasks.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinating data protection activities across the organisation.
  • Analysing data processes and flows to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for reporting and coordinating responses to data breaches, escalating issues as required.
  • Monitoring compliance with data protection laws, security controls, and internal procedures of outsourced data processors.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of data protection policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Advising business stakeholders on data protection impact assessments.
  • Assisting with the timely processing of data subject access requests.
  • Coordinating an education programme to promote adherence to data protection regulations.
  • Maintaining records of all data processing activities and ensuring transparency as required.
  • Ensuring effective internal communication to support ongoing employee engagement.
  • Collaborating with technology and business teams to maintain appropriate data privacy practices.
  • Keeping data processing records updated and ensuring timely maintenance of data protection registrations.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working on data-related projects with an understanding of data protection and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection regulations.
  • Experience supporting data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and managing data risks and incidents.
  • Knowledge of best practices in data governance and compliance.
  • Professional qualifications in data protection (e.g. IAPP) are desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
