Trade Mark Officer

Our client is seeking a full-time, permanent Trade Mark Officer to join their Registry division. This newly created position supports the transition of Jersey’s Trade Mark, Patent, and Design Registers to a new Intellectual Property team. You will play an important role in building knowledge of the Trade Mark regime, interpreting legislation and case law, and managing registration applications while ensuring the integrity and compliance of the Register. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the modernisation of Jersey’s Intellectual Property services.

Job Duties:

  • Interpret relevant legislation, case law and examination practice for Trade Mark, Patent and Design applications
  • Deliver a high-quality, efficient service to all users of the Intellectual Property regime
  • Support the registration, examination, and ongoing management of the Registers
  • Maintain and follow procedures and service level agreements for registration activity
  • Assist in preparing examination reports in collaboration with the Senior Trade Mark Manager
  • Handle administrative duties to support the function and success of the Intellectual Property team
  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and timely responses
  • Work collaboratively across the Registry division and with other departments as needed
  • Provide accurate documentation when an applicant disputes examination outcomes
  • Support the team in assessing technical issues and new activity trends across the regime

Job Requirements:

  • Proven administrative experience, ideally within an Intellectual Property or legal environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders
  • Capable of interpreting guidance and applying it to real-world situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and meet deadlines
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to conduct research and apply findings
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous learning
  • Comfortable working in a high-paced, evolving regulatory environment
  • Experience in Trade Mark or Intellectual Property administration would be advantageous but is not essential
