Temporary Legal Manager - 9 months

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Legal Manager to join their in-house legal team for a 9-month fixed-term contract. This role supports the delivery of legal services across multiple jurisdictions, with responsibility for advising on company and trust law, commercial contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and governance matters. The successful candidate will also support internal legal projects, contribute to policy updates, and assist with training initiatives. This is a key position for an experienced legal professional looking to gain broad exposure within a dynamic and collaborative business environment.

Job Duties:

  • Draft legal documents for client transactions, including trust distributions, trust terminations, and beneficiary changes
  • Prepare and maintain legal precedents and templates for use across administration teams
  • Review and update policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency
  • Assist with the preparation of legal updates for internal board reporting
  • Maintain oversight of the legal inbox and monitor workflows using internal systems
  • Deliver internal legal training sessions on key areas of law and compliance
  • Provide legal review and support for third-party contracts, including those related to IT and service providers
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Guernsey and the UK, particularly in relation to company and trust law
  • Support cross-jurisdictional legal initiatives as part of the Centre of Excellence model
  • Contribute to the development of legal services within the group and promote consistency across offices
  • Undertake other legal or administrative duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
  • Ideally post-qualification experience in private practice or in-house within financial services (applications considered from those with less than 3 years PQE)
  • Strong understanding of Guernsey and offshore legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Committed to personal development and high-quality service delivery
  • Team-oriented and client-focused approach
