Senior Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking a qualified or part-qualified Senior Accountant to join their finance function on a permanent, full-time basis. Based in Jersey, this role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting processes across a group of companies. You will take ownership of group consolidations, tax compliance, external audits, and the preparation of statutory accounts and financial reports. The role also includes budgeting responsibilities and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the business.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Deliver statutory financial statements for all legal entities within the group
  • Produce timely financial reporting to senior leadership
  • Manage intercompany eliminations and adjustments across multiple subsidiaries
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for shared services functions
  • Maintain knowledge of accounting standards such as FRS 102, ensuring compliance in all reporting
  • Assist in overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and identifying financial risks and opportunities
  • Coordinate external annual audit processes, ensuring documentation is provided accurately and promptly
  • Deliver detailed financial analysis and insights to highlight trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
  • Produce high-quality management reports and board-level financial presentations
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of VAT and GST returns
  • Review externally prepared company tax returns for accuracy and compliance
  • Support financial forecasting and group budget consolidation
  • Act as a co-owner of financial modelling tools and budgeting systems
  • Collaborate with other finance teams and business units on projects such as system upgrades, mergers, and acquisitions
  • Provide support to senior finance leadership in responding to ad hoc requests and supporting wider business goals

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in group financial reporting and group consolidation
  • Strong knowledge of FRS 102 and related accounting frameworks
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of solving complex problems
  • Able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines under pressure
  • Adaptable and proactive, with a willingness to support change in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to contribute to a high-performance finance culture
