Compliance Manager

Our client is seeking a Compliance Manager to join their team in Jersey on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Group Head of Compliance and Risk, the role involves overseeing and managing the day-to-day compliance and risk mitigation activities of the business. This includes supporting regulatory and legal obligations, driving continuous improvement across compliance frameworks, and embedding a robust compliance culture throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will also act as Deputy Compliance Officer, Deputy Money Laundering Compliance Officer, and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer when required.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Compliance team, ensuring high service levels across internal stakeholders
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and technical support to junior compliance team members
  • Support and contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory, compliance, and risk policies and frameworks
  • Assist with strategic compliance initiatives and contribute to the business’s overall goals
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of legislation, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks relevant to the business and its clients
  • Oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme and report findings to relevant committees and the board
  • Attend and contribute to governance committee meetings, including acting as deputy for the Group Head of Compliance and Risk
  • Review and revise the AML/CFT/CPF Business Risk Assessment in response to regulatory updates and trigger events
  • Analyse changes to laws and regulations and advise the board on their implications
  • Manage internal suspicious activity reports and related financial crime record-keeping
  • Maintain working relationships with the JFSC, FIU, and other relevant enforcement bodies
  • Provide timely and accurate compliance management information to the board and governance committees
  • Offer guidance on the interpretation of relevant laws and codes of practice to client-facing and support teams

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in compliance and risk management within regulated financial services
  • Strong understanding of Jersey regulatory framework, including the MLO, AML/CFT/CPF Handbook, and Codes of Practice
  • Previous experience managing a team and providing technical guidance
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
  • Confidence to act as Deputy MLRO, Deputy MLCO, and Deputy CO as required
  • Ability to manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and professional conduct
